Sustainability & Exit Strategy
CAF-U envisions a world where its interventions continue regardless of dwindling donor funds, so that the benefits of a project outlast its life. Specifically, CAF-U's sustainability plan is anchored on the following domains.
Diversity of funding sources, from both internal and external sources. CAF-U emphasises both humanitarian support from donors and internal support from friends and founders with the passion to alleviate the situation of vulnerable children — ensuring continuity of intervention even as donor funds fluctuate.
Funding Sustainability
Our funding sustainability entails establishing a consistent financial base for both CAF-U and its beneficiaries, and promoting diversification. Through diverse funding sources, coupled with the enterprising nature of our founders, we can build the local economy and continue an integrated response to vulnerable children even as donor funding is reduced.
Social Entrepreneurship
CAFU pursues social entrepreneurship to complement its funding sources. Specifically, CAF-U operates a social business model — including commercial palm oil growing, agro-processing and real estate investment — using a fraction of the proceeds as donations to better the lives of orphans and vulnerable children, in line with the organisation's objectives.

CAFU works closely with, and strengthens the capacity of, relevant stakeholders, local community-based organisations and existing community structures. CAFU also conducts civic engagements with community members, ensuring they remain at the centre of every intervention.
Strengthening Families and Communities as First-Line Responders
CAFU strengthens the position of the family and the community to act as first-line responders, so that its work continues even without the direct, day-to-day involvement of CAFU staff.
