The worsening situation of Orphans and other Vulnerable Children (OVC) in Uganda is a global concern. In Uganda, children constitute 54% of the population of which 14% are orphans ( UNHS, 2019/2020).
Orphans and other vulnerable children in Uganda face multiple challenges including, educational discontinuity, poor nutrition, discrimination, social stigma, and separation from siblings, material deprivation and extreme anxiety, lack of health care, psychological support and economic self-sufficiency. In addition, they have alarmingly high rates of malnutrition and high likelihood of dropping out school.
CAF-U was established with the vision of transforming the lives of vulnerable children and maximising their potential to rise into productive, responsible and resourceful citizens of the nation. CAFU was founded by one of the directors in 2012, orpharned at five years and assisted by Stromme foundation to obtain good education now envisions transformed lives of vulnerabl children.
Child Aid Foundation Uganda (CAF-U) will champion the transformation of the lives of Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) in Uganda through a series of interventions including but limited to social entreprenuership.
